Years of experience as an English Teacher : 4 year.
Previous academic accolades: (MA Sociology), University of Bath (MRes European Social Policy)
I came into teaching English as a Foreign Language after working for ten years in social research as a civil servant and, later, in the private sector.
As a researcher I contributed to numerous studies both in the UK and overseas, with topics ranging from the evaluation of European Union funded projects, internal evaluations of government institutions, medical research, studies of local services to research into education sector. I have also either organised or presented at many international conferences, including the European Evaluation Society Conference in London (2006).
In 2011, I decided on a career change and since then, after obtaining TRINITY Cert TESOL, I have been teaching General English classes, IELTS preparation classes and teacher training classes. I joined WE Bridge Academy as an English Language teacher in 2013 and have never looked back since.
I love teaching because it is really rewarding and you can see results of your work practically instantly! No research can give this kind of satisfaction and excitement. I also lead a lot of WE Bridge Academy’s social activities. You may spot me on the Cardiff Bay Water Bus or in one of the thatched roof houses in St Fagans Museum. I quite like being a tour guide, so please do ask me lots of questions!
I don’t have too much time for hobbies but I love music (I play a couple of instruments) and watching European films. My favorite sports are hiking, cycling and ice skating. If you come ice skating with me, don’t forget your hat and gloves!
